Hire the best, don't mess with the rest!

As someone who went through a couple of lawyers before finally finding Mike Stewart, I can tell you that Mike stands heads and shoulders above the rest. The best lawyers are going to be busy and Mike is no exception, however, his ability to focus on your case and prepare for trial is second to none. Having never been involved in the “criminal justice” system before (at age 50!), I was unsure how things worked and what to expect. Mike is well known in Pierce County for his ability to advocate and negotiate with the State to achieve the best outcome for his clients. Mike reviewed the charge (Assault 2, DV) and my statement (do yourself a favor and ALWAYS document your recollection of events immediately following any incident involving the police) and agreed to represent me. Immediately, he started putting the wheels in motion to move it forward to trial, as he actually listened to me and knew I wanted to take it to trial, since I was innocent of the charge levied against me by the State. Trust me, not all criminal lawyers are criminal trial lawyers. Some specialize in plea bargains only. If you are truly innocent, do not work with anyone other than Mike, he is THAT good! At his recommendation, he suggested that I hire an investigator, someone who uncovered additional details that corroborated my statement and, at the same time, started to both dismantle the “victim’s” statement to the police as well as uncovering things that witnesses saw and said that were never documented by the police in charge of the State's "investigation". When he had enough information from me and my investigator, he asked me again if I was prepared to go all the way to trial, knowing that once he asked the State to let him and my investigator interview the “victim”, the State would be reluctant to dismiss the charge or take a plea. He let me make the decision, as every lawyer is obligated to do, and we went forward with the “victim” interview. During the interview, Mike skillfully questioned the “victim”, based on my statement and the details uncovered by my investigator, and got this person to admit to several criminal acts in front of the State that, at the same time, also exonerated me. We didn’t get to complete the victim interview, unfortunately, as Mike had already driven a truck right through the victim’s story. Within two weeks of the first interview, during which Mike kept the pressure on the State to produce the “victim” again for another round, the State agreed to dismiss the charge against me. Whether you are guilty or a crime or not, do not let the State dictate all the terms of your case and, most importantly, the outcome of it. On top of his legal skill, Mike and his staff (I mainly worked with Brianna) are responsive, easy to talk to, and make sure you are their top priority when it matters the most (Courts move painfully slow so have patience!). As I said in the beginning, Mike is a busy lawyer and, as a result, has to switch context and clients on a daily basis. But he was always ready to go to battle with the State on my behalf when it mattered and achieved a great outcome for me. Do yourself a favor, call Mike and let him and his team deal with the nuances of the law and the “criminal justice” system and achieve the right outcome for you, based on the facts and the law.

Micheal Stewart is Outstanding

Accused of assault? In Washington State you are guilty til proven innocent in any DV type case. Just a fact from my experience. The constitution has been thrown out the window, I do not know why. The deck is stacked against you when you walk in for arraignment, the public defender does not defend you, just the truth. I looked for a long time for an attorney. Read Micheal’s reviews, seemed too good to be true. Met with him. He represented me and the DV was dismissed. The reviews are accurate. Micheal Stewart is the most professional, positive, driven and motivated attorney I have ever seen. If you need help call him. There is no better attorney in the Tacoma area.

I got my life back!

I came to Mike after firing my last attorney, the case was continued over and over for about six or seven months with no progress. Mike resolved this case for me after only two court appearances. An uncommon man, among uncommon men

An uncommon man among uncommon men, is the only statement that adequately describes Mr. Michael Austin Stewart. Personally, I have only ever had true and absolute faith in the capacity of one attorney out of the many I have retained and that was over a decade ago. Before finding and meeting Mr. Stewart and his team, I had almost given up hope that high caliber, trustworthy attorneys still existed. For the sake of brevity, I will suffice it to say that I was beyond frustrated with my circumstances and seemed to be slipping ever deeper into the abyss of red-tape, arbitrary stipulations and non-productive hearings, all stemming from the misdemeanor assault charge I was fighting, by way of the MUNICIPALITY OF OLYMPIA. Mr. Stewart's team received a voicemail from me during the holiday season of 2018. I was blown away when a member of his team returned my call almost immediately and had me scheduled for a consultation before the year was through. That act alone is indicative of how important clients are to the men and women of Stewart Law Firm, but more important to me, was the vetting. You can tell how well an attorney is going to pay attention to the details of a case, in part, by the nature of the questions you receive from his associates/assistants/paralegals, during their initial inquiry. The moment of truth in my mind is two-fold. The first, being the feeling that I sense when I make first eye contact with someone and seeing how the air moves about them as they enter a room. He is a well-oiled, finely tuned, high-performance machine and he's race ready. Day one, meeting number one, Mike is more than present, he is mentally and physically involved all the way. Now, it would be impossible for me to say or know exactly how Mr. Stewart analyzes and interprets all of the variables and potential pitfalls of a given circumstance, but I know he brought solutions to the table and gave me clear instructions on how to proceed forward, following our meeting. We spoke for a while and he seemed very personable and genuine in his relating to me and my hardship. Life sentence to dismissal

Mike took on this case after the state had manipulated the court to remove another top attorney under a highly unusual tactic knowing the states case was weak. With finesse, patience, skill and calculated interviews along with a top notch investigative team Mike systematically dismantled the fabricated claims the state presented refused to settle for anything other than a dismissal. Mike took apart piece by piece each of the states witnesses until there was nothing left but a feeble attempt by the corrupt and incompetent states attorney at the 11th hour to make one last attempt to divert and distress Mike into a plea deal. Mike saw through the new false claims by the states attorney. The case, which on the front looked grim due to the stacked up lies and false claims by King County Sheriffs, the complaining witness and sloppy misguided reports by states expert witnesses, had been trampled by Michael Stewart and his expert team. Best attorney to hire for DUI

I contacted Michael Stewart after being charged with a DUI. I was extremely nervous of my case given the fact that I had a BAC that was over twice the legal limit. In addition to the high BAC, I had a previous drinking and driving incident that was just under 20 years old. After speaking with Michael over the phone, I felt immediate relief. He did not hide the fact that this would be a difficult case, but I felt hopeful and most importantly felt I was in the best hands possible. Michael understood a negative outcome would extremely affect my family, and he fought accordingly. Throughout the process, his staff, specifically Ashley, was completely accessible and very knowledgeable on all areas of my case. In the end, my results were better then I had anticipated. No jail time, insignificant fine, well spent community service, and minimal restrictions on my license. I would not be in the position I am, had I not hired Michael. If your freedom is in question

Mike Stewart is by far the best legal representation in the state of Washington. The prosecutor in my case wanted 17 months in prison and $50,000 restitution. Final result with Mike = no time whatsoever and no restitiutuion. And he was going up against Sound Transit. Other lawyers my mom called made her cry and did not listen to any of the facts. Miks is a professional and knows what he is doing . He made sure everything was done right from start to finish. If you are being accused of any crime, this guy will help you immensely. he is not only an excellent attorney in the court house, Mr. Stewart also cares about you as a person. He is approachable and easy to reach, he will promptly return your calls and or texts. He makes you feel as if you're not alone in your fight. He wants whats best for you, and will not hesitate to fight for for the best outcome for you and your family. Unfortunately, I required his services recently because I was facing many serious charges. I had hired another attorney who wanted me to plead guilty to a higher felony and do prison time. I AM GRATEFUL BEYOND WORDS

Last year I found myself in jail charged with 2nd degree assault. I was facing prison time and a strike. I'm a single father with a 10 year old daughter. The King County Prosecutor's Office was trying to take me away from my daughter and take away everything I've worked for in life. I've dealt with a lot of adversity and struggles in life, but nothing compares to this injustice that my family and I were subjected to. I was wrongfully and falsely accused and I wasn't going to let them do this to me, and that's why I hired Mike. I knew that Mike would fight for me. Mike had previously represented me back in the late 90s when I was a kid and he got my ridiculous conviction for auto theft vacated. His courtroom performance on that day 20 years ago had left a lasting impression on me. I never forgot it. So when I found my life turned upside down last year I knew that I had to get Mike. Mike absolutely destroyed the prosecutor (Luke Larson). It was a blowout like the Seahawks over the Broncos in Super Bowl 48, but even worse. The prosecution didn't even score a single point. The jury came back with a verdict in about 25 minutes: not guilty to 2nd degree assault, and not guilty to the lesser included 4th degree assault. The end, right? No, it gets even better. When acquitted by reason of self-defense, the accused can ask the jury if the State of Washington should be ordered to reimburse them for their legal expenses. You can already guess what the jury decided to do. If anybody got up to use the bathroom they wouldn't have made it back in time to hear the jury's verdict on the compensation. THIS IS WHAT MIKE WAS BORN TO DO. IF YOU'RE IN A JAM, YOU WILL HIRE MIKE IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU.

Able to move on

Long story short, I was cited for a DUI. Mr. Stewart and his assistant communicated with me and kept me up to speed the entire time. What made things complicated is that I'm in the military. The prosecutors offered a deal; negligent driving in the first degree. Mr.Stewart had the confidence and foresight to turn the deal down and the case was dismissed. Now I am able to move on with my life and career.

Best Attorney In Washington

Michael was referred to me by my sister who knew him when she worked at the Pierce County Courthouse. I had a lawyer at the time, with over 20 years experience in family law, and after my first court date in family court, dealing with CPS and social services, I knew I needed a change--he was too meek. Mike was incredible, this isn't the type of law he specializes in, but it didn't matter. He massacred CPS' case, as well as the outlandishly untrue allegations painting my character as a father. CPS cases usually take 9-12 months to reconcile, best case scenario, Mike had my case wrapped up in six weeks and I received full custody of my five year old daughter. I will never go to another lawyer again, whether for referrals or representation. He is an 11 out of 10 in my book, absolutely amazing, aggressive (CPS actually asked me to talk to him about toning it down--I did not), competitive, everything and anything you'd want when you need a lawyer. I came to Mike after firing my last attorney, the case was continued over and over for about six or seven months with no progress. Mike resolved this case for me after only two court appearances.
